Day Three Recap Friday, September 10, 2021

Silver Oak Jumper Tournament – Presented by The Davis McCullough Foundation

Traverse City graced day three of the Silver Oak Jumper Tournament with great weather once again; a perfect venue for the myriad of show jumping events set for the day. Of course, one that stood out among the crowd was the highly anticipated $36,000 1.45m GGT footing Welcome Stakes, and it definitely did not disappoint. Sponsored by a long-time supporter of SOJT, GGT Footing helped us to put on yet another superb quality CSI 3* class which of course drew in a spectacular turnout of equestrian partners.

With almost forty horses in the first round, it was shaved down to the final sixteen in the jump-off. Out of those teams the horse and rider to outpace them all was Sydney Shulman aboard the lovely mare Villamoura with an incredibly precise and *fast* round, winning by nearly three whole seconds! In second, with quite the performance himself was Eric Krawitt, and the final rider to finish on the podium was the ever-consistent Kristen Vanderveen.

After such a great day it’s hard to imagine things could get any better, but if you know Silver Oak you know there is always another pleasant surprise waiting around the next bend. Still ahead, don’t miss what is going to be a meaningful and emotional Babington Benefit Classic tomorrow in support of The Kevin Babington Family Trust, and we still have one more ranked CSI 3* on the agenda with the $137,000 Agero Grand Prix on Sunday. What a week!
