Classic Champions and Young Jumper Championships Announce Finals to be hosted at Silver Oak Jumper Tournament

Additional prize money of $45,000 brings Silver Oak total purse to over $200,000Halifax, MA – April 14, 2015 – The Silver Oak Jumper Tournament announced today an important and exciting addition to the already well rounded timetable of events for this year’s show, the Classic Champions Tour Halifax, for Young Jumpers ages 6, 7 and 8-years-old.The Silver Oak Jumper Tournament, scheduled for August 12 -16, 2015 at the Fieldstone Show facility in Halifax, MA, has again been recognized the North American Rider’s Group (NARG) as one of their top rated show. Last year was the inaugural event at Fieldstone after a successful debut in New Hampshire in 2013.

The Classic Champions Tour Halifax, leads up to the conclusion of the Classic Champions Tour, a series of premiere events for young jumpers designed to provide the educational opportunities necessary for young equine athletes to advance to the highest levels of equestrian sport. The Classic Champions Tour is a collaborative effort between Classic Champions, Inc. a 501c3 charitable organization, and the Young Jumper Championships.

“We choose our venues and partnerships very carefully,” said Cynthia Hampton, President & Director of Classic Champions, Inc. “The Silver Oak Jumper Tournament has become one of the finest horse shows in America as evidenced by their consistent place in the NARG Top 25 list, but beyond that, every rider we approached raved about the attention to detail, the focus on horse and rider and the quality of the property. Jeff Papows and his team have made this show the place to be and we are proud to partner with them,” she said.

“The Silver Oak Jumper Tournament is delighted to be able to host this event for a number of reasons,” said Show Chairman and Founder, Dr. Jeff Papows. “First of all, the Young Jumpers are such a vital part of the continuing growth of our sport, such a valuable pipeline if you will, to the major leagues of show jumping. So, we’re excited to be able to further that cause. But, we’re also honored that our show was selected to host this premier event. It’s a validation for all of the hard work we’ve put into this show, in an effort to make it one of the nation’s very best stand alone all-jumper events. Our great facility, the fabulous footing, the great courses and course designing are all reasons that our event was chosen to host this exciting new addition.”

There is a reason we import the majority of our horses from Europe, they have a program for the development of young jumpers destined to be tomorrow’s super stars and it works. That very program is in fact the Young Jumper Championship which in Europe is an enormous success.  As the ‘Rider’s Horse Show, we want to help develop young jumpers in a similar consistent fashion. Our gratitude goes out to Cynthia for being that driving force in this country. Since 1989, the Young Jumper Championships and International Jumper Futurity have paid out over five and a half million dollars in prize money to owners, breeders, and stallion owners, to promote the breeding and development of top sport horses in the United States.”

There will be three classes in each age group, culminating with a Classic for each age group on Saturday, August 12th on the grass, center stage in what is one of the country’s best grass grand prix fields.  Through a grant from Hyperion Stud, three classes for each of the 4, and 5 year olds will be hosted as well, with additional prize money available for those athletes.

The Classic Champions Young Jumper course designer is Michel Ismalun, a former winner of the 5 year-old championship in Fontainebleau. Ismalun’s specialty is course design specific to young jumpers, including his work at WEG Normandy 2014 as a three star international course designer. His wife, Damaris, a three star level international jumper judge, will be responsible for the style judging in the young jumper classes. Olaf Petersen, Jr., as always, does our other Open Jumper division courses.

The Silver Oak Jumper Tournament will be awarding in excess of $220,000.00 in prize money and awards during the week of August 12 – 16, 2015. But as Papows reminded “This has been articulated many times, but bears repeating. This is not a “coin operated” horse show like so many, and as a result, total entries will still be limited to ensure the integrity of the daily, relaxed schedules and the optimum quality of both the grass and all weather GGT rings. With the addition of Young Jumpers, space will be gone sooner than last year.”

We’re very excited that our Grand Prix sponsor, Agero is returning again this year for the 2015 $75,000 Agero Grand Prix to be held on Sunday, August 16th,” Papows added. “Agero has been a sponsor with us for a number of years. We are thrilled with Agero’s major commitment for the big money event.”

Papows concluded, “NESN is back once again after a big success in 2014 and will be providing our TV broadcast again. And we’re delighted to once again be the benefactors for the BINA Therapeutic Riding Program in Massachusetts, supporting unfortunate children and returning wounded veterans, as our charity of choice.”

Making one of North America’s Best Jumper Shows

even more fun and exciting

Halifax, MA – July 28, 2015 – There are obvious and well document points of focus or as Silver Oak Jumper Tournament, presented by Davis McCullough Foundation, Show Chairman, Jeff Papows, calls them critical success factors that come first every time. He’ll get a chance to work that formula again this year as the tournament returns on August 12 through the 16, at the beautiful Fieldstone Show Park in Halifax, MA.

That list includes world class footing, both grass and all weather, the world’s best course designers, excellent prize money, Steve Stephens’ best jump inventory, rider amenities, food and serious customer service, from cold water bottles at every in gate, Olympic caliber awards commemorating your efforts and making the week memorable, to a fully automated show office staffed by real professionals. A schedule that makes sense, runs smoothly, and ends by 5:00 p.m. every day rounds out that list.

Our efforts are aided substantially by the hundreds of thousands of dollars that Fieldstone Show Park has invested in drainage; footing, floral and plant details, improved tent pads, clear span stabling options, expanded irrigation systems, lighting, shade and elevated viewing areas. That list goes on, but it’s all pivotal to our success.

The always improving Fieldstone Show Park, home to the Silver Oak Jumper Tournament

This year, in fact, it’s been taken up yet another notch by adding outdoor lighting to the CMJ Sport Horse Jumper Annex ring.

In addition, we’re taking the hospitality up a gear too, throwing a world class barbeque with steak and an actual full-sized pig roast, with beer, wine, and yes, one of the country’s newest and  top micro distilleries will be on hand for free tastings of their latest creations. Rhonda Kallman, after many years in the beer industry, in fact, she is one of the principals that helped Jim Koch make Samuel Adams the industry hit it is today. Her newest venture is Boston  Harbor Distillery and as one of our newest sponsors they will be featured at our Friday night festivities.

But this year, in addition to the fabulous food and drink, the first ever Silver Oak Jumper Tournament Volleyball Championships will be held with farms and friends fielding teams of six in an exciting round robin single elimination tournament, ending with fun prizes for our winning team.

We have hired one of Boston’s best DJ’s, 5 Star Events Disc Jockey Dave Hodges. There are even rumors going around thatour own, Mr. Party Central, Darren Graziano, might make a guest appearance.

Our much heralded Rider’s tent, sponsored through the generosity of Victoria McCullough and the Davis McCullough Foundation, will again feature comfortable leather couches and chairs, with tables and furnishings, along with free breakfast daily, afternoon snacks and beverages to include beer and wine, all offering our busy owners trainers, and rider’s an oasis from the heat of competition.

As was the case in each of the past two years, we had a lot of fun where each of the champions in our major divisions such as Open Jumpers, A/O Jumpers, the Master’s and Adult Jumpers were given a key to a Vespa Scooter provided by our official Auto and Truck partner, Herb Chambers. One lucky key, for one lucky winner starts the Vespa. This ultimate horse show vehicle comes with all the bells and whistles. Past winners include Alan Griffin of Ox Ridge fame and Alexandra Cherubini of EquiFit, who in both cases literally drove off with a new Vespa Scooter to commemorate their Championship. That draws takes place Sunday August 16th with only one key starting the motor scooter. It has and will create some great fun and laughs.

We started a new tradition with a Silver Oak Jumper Tournament Kids tent where all the smaller children and their parents or care

Darren Graziano, pictured here with daughter Adelynn, sponsors the D & G Ventures Mini-Prix and the Children's Tentproviders can congregate and enjoy toys, games, movies and a safe and logical space, freeing their equestrian parents to ride and compete with one less worry. This year’s children’s tent, sponsored by D&G Ventures and the Graziano family, will once again be something different. Last year, the kids had a ‘decorate the dogs’ contest launched at their own impetus that was hilarious.

Our VIP tent, an enormous and elevated three hundred and fifty feet long and forty plus feet wide, sponsored by UBS Wealth Management, the Harvest Group, will feature a white linen fantastic lunch on Sunday, all with a ringside and elevated view of the Unicorn Landing Farm Grand Prix Field. The very best in food, beer and wine, and by the way we are down to a handful of remaining VIP tables for any farm wanting to reserve one contact Sharon Ricci at: Sharon@silveroakjumpertournament.com

Further enhancing the total experience on Sunday we have “The Nor Easter’s champion accapella group to sing our national anthem as well as popular tunes during intermission. You have to hear these young people to believe it.

We will continue our Saturday 4:30 p.m. tradition of a meet and greet panel (above) with prizes, free copies of Jeff Papows’ award winning book Unbridled Passion, along with free posters and items for our top riders to autograph for all our young and aspiring super stars in the making. Our Meet and Greet panel is a rare opportunity for young riders, children and parents to get up close and personal with the stars of their sport. As always prizes will be awarded for the best questions so start making notes. Our Meet and Greet Panel is sponsored by Dover Saddlery, who also happens to be the title sponsor for our 1.40m Open Jumper division.
